Ravenstone Entitlement and wandle promise
MORE THAN RESULTS - WE GROW CONFIDENT, COMPASSIONATE YOUNG PEOPLE
The Ravenstone Entitlement encompasses an enrichment offer we make to all children in the school. It provides children with a range of new, authentic, memorable learning opportunities. It is a guaranteed, strategically planned set of enrichment opportunities children will experience every school year in the form of a termly Educational Visit and a School-based Event, an annual Curriculum Theme Day and a year long Collaborative Community Link.
The Wandle Promise - no limitations, no excuses! expands this offer and further guarantees, for every pupil attending a Wandle Learning Trust school, a core set of experiences from three categories:
Champions of our Communities and our city
- Knowing our community and making the most of it - each year group will get to know their community through half termly visits to the library, walks through the local park, or annual trips to a local religious place of worship
- Growing your community - termly fundraising for local or national campaigns, electing school and eco councils, and holding a careers fair for Year 5 and 6
- Landmarks - each year group will visit a London/local landmark or museum linked to their curriculum
- Theatre visit - children in Year 5 will be taken to a west end theatre show and children in Year Reception will be taken to visit a local theatre
Our Wonderful World
- Taking a trip to a contrasting place - one of Year 1’s educational visits will provide a contrast to their everyday lived experiences; they will go to the beach to take a dip in the sea!
- A night under the stars - children in year 3 group will go on an overnight camping trip
- Links to nature - each year group will have an experience linked to the curriculum where they can learn outside their classroom in the natural world
- Staying away from home - children in Years 4 and 6 will go on an overnight educational visit
The Wider Wandle family
- Children will have the opportunity to take part in a Wandle competition and represent their school in one of the termly events to develop cross school links for the children:
- Maths bee (Year 4 Autumn term)
- Battle of the Books (Year 5 Spring term)
- The Wandle Cup (mixed gender football competition in KS2- Summer term)
- The Trust wide Christmas card competition - all children will have the opportunity to enter and the winner to be selected by a Trust panel including the co-CEOs
Off-site visits are organised and risk assessed in line with the Wandle Learning Trust Educational Visits Procedures. Families will be informed via email of planned visits and payments will be requested via Arbor.
