Ravenstone Primary School

Secondary PREP

FUTURE-READY LEARNERS, SUPPORTED EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

At Ravenstone, we are proud of every child who steps into our school and we ensure that every child in our care reaches their potential. This includes providing every child with the skills to succeed when they move onto secondary school.

We believe preparation for secondary school starts long before Year 6. From early on, we build the academic foundations, confidence and independence children need to thrive in the next phase of their education. Our broad, ambitious curriculum encourages deep thinking and resilience, while our nurturing environment supports emotional readiness. By the time they leave us, every child is equipped not just with knowledge, but with the self-belief to succeed.

In Years 5 and 6, our transition programme offers tailored support to ensure every pupil feels informed, inspired and empowered. Children benefit from entrance exam preparation, interview coaching and careers events. We also connect families with local secondary schools and guide them through the admissions process. Whether children are moving to selective schools or local comprehensive or grammar schools, we make sure they step forward with confidence and ambition.

We ensure children are equipped not only with academic knowledge, but with the skills, confidence and character to succeed in their next stage of education. Our vibrant clubs and hobbies programme encourages pupils to discover interests, take initiative, and collaborate with peers in meaningful ways. From Year 1 onwards, children can apply for leadership roles - such as School Council member, Eco Council member, or Rights Respecting Ambassador - developing responsibility and pride in their school community. By Year 6, pupils lead as House Captains, Digital Leaders and Playground Buddies.

DESTINATION SCHOOLS

We support all families with their application to secondary school and we see great success as to where the children end up moving on to and how well they continue to thrive. This includes local outstanding state schools, independent schools and grammar schools. The list below outlines where children moved onto after they left Ravenstone over recent years:
