Ravenstone Primary School

What We Teach

At Ravenstone, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and prepare every child for the future. It reflects a wide range of local, national, and global cultures so that all children see themselves represented and learn to value diversity. We place the rights of the child, as set out by UNICEF, at the heart of school life. Our curriculum is ambitious for all learners, encouraging deep thinking, meaningful connections, and the confidence to take risks and learn from mistakes.

Learning is carefully sequenced to help children build knowledge over time, with clear links between subjects and years. We make purposeful cross-curricular connections and provide rich, memorable learning experiences both in and beyond the classroom - through outdoor learning, visits, visitors, and the Ravenstone Entitlement. Our curriculum nurtures the ability to think, talk, read, and write like subject specialists - historians, scientists, artists, and more - and introduces pupils to significant people who have shaped the world.

We are committed to closing vocabulary gaps, supporting fluent readers, and giving all pupils the tools they need to read for meaning and enjoyment. The curriculum also supports teacher development and reflects the needs of our community, helping every child to succeed and flourish in school and beyond.
