Year 5 Weekly Review

Summer 2 Week 4: 30th June - 4th July 2025

Weekly Review

It’s been a busy week in year 5, with school wide celebrations and activities, as well as a fantastic trip. On Wednesday, we journeyed to the Thames to complete a Hands on History workshop that included searching for various natural and man-made objects and categorising them. On Thursday, we made our animal masks for the upcoming production, as well as creating Banksy inspired art pieces for the 110 year celebration of Ravenstone.

English:

In English this week, we planned and began writing our independent non-chronological report. We revised the features and structure of a non-chronological report, highlighting that its paragraphs are not necessarily in an order apart from the conclusion. We have come up with our own creatures and built a fact file about them in order to help inform the content of our non-chronological report. Next week, we will be finishing these.

Maths:

In Maths this week, we focused on angles about a point and in a quadrilateral adding up to 360 degrees. We used this knowledge to find the value of one or more missing angles in quadrilaterals and how mirrored angles are the same.

PATHs:

In PSHE this week we looked at the emotional changes experienced whilst going through puberty. The children drew from experience with siblings, family members and friends to help them understand how our moods can change rapidly. We learnt about what causes the mood swings and touched upon how the way we think changes as we grow up.
