Mr davidson update

I am thrilled to share the wonderful news that Joseph Hugh Davidson was born on Friday, April 5th at 4:38 pm! Both mum and baby are doing wonderfully well, and we are back at home relishing precious family time together. Your kind words before the Easter holiday meant so much to us, and I eagerly anticipate returning to work with your children in the Summer term. Thank you for your ongoing support and well wishes.

YEAR 1 WEEKLY REVIEW

Weekly Review 19th April 2024

 Weekly Review:

We are now in our final 13 weeks of Year One together and oh how the year has flown by.  This half term will seem even stranger than normal with two bank holidays.  Even with less days we will be packing lots of learning into the time we have.  Our attention may have seemed to shift to the phonics screening but this doesn’t mean we have stopped any of our foundation subjects and we will be teaching a full curriculum.  We have spent this week continuing lots of topics.  In Geography, we started our new topic: Where do our favorite animals live? We travelled to Antarctica to look at why emperor penguins live there. During our Art, we also started our new topic ‘woven wonders’. We started this by looking at art and recognizing that it can be made in different ways. We drew ourselves being artists. In Computing, we started our new topic: Coding. We followed instructions and learnt that computers follow instructions too, called algorithms. Our Science, saw us learning about animals bodies. We looked at what makes a reptile and used clay to build these parts of their body.

English:

We started to look at some of the books that have been placed on the short- and long-list for the ‘Yoto Carnegie Medal’ for Illustration. We read ‘April’s Garden’ this week and wrote our own instructions on how to plant a seed.

Maths:

In Maths, we started to look at how we can measure length and height. We used rulers to measure different objects around the classroom.

PHSE:

In PSHE we looked at how we can stay safe in the house by reducing hazards in each room of the house.

PE & Dance:

1D will have PE on Friday and Music on Tuesday while 1P will have Dance on Tuesday and PE on Thursday so will need their kits then.  Children can come to school wearing their kits on PE and Dance days and will get changed as part of their lessons if they want to.

AOB:

We hope you have a wonderful, safe and healthy weekend.

With best wishes
